Applies to

  • SVMDR
  • FlexGroup SnapMirror
  • ONTAP 9.11, 9.12.1, 9.12.1P2 and 9.13

Issue

  • When attempting to reverse the direction of a FlexGroup SnapMirror relationship without running a snapmirror create in the desired direction the below error happens

Unhealthy Reason: Scheduled update failed to start. (Transfer did not start for FlexGroup relationship with source "SVM_src:FGTest" and destination "SVM_dst:FGTest_DR" because an expand operation is either in progress or pending. Either wait for the expand operation to complete or run the snapmirror resync command to restart the expand operation.)

  • A snapmirror modify was run to add a schedule to the existing SnapMirror relationship because no snapmirror create was ran

  • This issue does not happen with FlexVols

  • Creating the reverse-direction SnapMirror relationship before issuing the snapmirror resync command does not cause this behavior
