Issue

  • SMtape backup of a volume fails with error:

::> system smtape status show -session <ID> -instance        
...
Path Name: /SVM/vol2_dest
....
Error Description: Transfer failed (Filesystem error)

  • From the EMS log-

Fri Jan 05 00:12:48 +0700 [CLUSTER-01: ib_bkp_main: smtape.bkp.fail:error]: SMTape backup session 175 from /SVM/vol2_dest to /CLUSTER-01/rst3a failed with error transfer failed (Filesystem error) 38:1457.

  • Changed the snapshot version for backup and a different tape was used, it still failed.
