Answer

  • Yes, it is expected to take longer time for Flexgroup then Flexvol during snapmirror reverse resync.
  • With Flexgroups the data is spread across multiple constituent volumes, unlike the Flexvol where data is only on the single volume.
  • When the snapmirror reverse resync is performed flexgroup snapmirror will perform extra steps in the background to maintain the consistency across all the constituent volumes.
  • This is to ensure that end users does not see any inconsistency when accessing the flexgroup.
  • One of the extra things flexgroup snapmirror does is; The Co-ordinate Snapshots are taken across all the constituents on flexgroup, which is not performed in volume level snapmirror.
  • Because of these overheads/extra steps performed on FlexGroup level, this is expected to take more time than the FlexVol volumes during resync transfers.
