  • ONTAP 9

Answer

  • CRC checksum was used by SnapMirror in ONTAP 7-mode
  • The CRC checksum method is not used in ONTAP 9 and later
  • SnapMirror in ONTAP 9 and later has multiple checks to verify data integrity on the SnapMirror destination:
    • To protect against network corruption or bit-flips, op-level checksum validations are performed
    • To protect against data corruption, each user-data 4K block is checksum validated
    • If any of the checksums mismatch, SnapMirror fails the transfer.
