SnapLock 'volume move' and 'volume create' operations fail in a mixed-version cluster

Issue

  • In a mixed cluster with four nodes: 
2 nodes running ONTAP 9.8
2 nodes running ONTAP 9.12.1
 
 
  • SnapLock 'volume move' fails with the error:
Cluster1::> vol move start -vserver svm1 -volume Snaplock_volume1 -destination-aggregate aggr1
Error: command failed: Unable to move volume "Snaplock_volume1" in Vserver "svm1" to aggregate "aggr1". Source and destination aggregate SnapLock types do not match.
 
 
  • SnapLock 'volume create' fails with the error:
dldnc506p:: *> vol create -vserver svm1 -volume snaplock_temp -snaplock-type compliance -size 1g -aggregate aggr1
Error: command failed: SnapLock type of the volume does not match with the aggregate SnapLock type "non-snaplock"
