Answer

Yes, You can rename an empty directory as long as no file is placed in the directory

Additional Information

  • This change was implemented in ONTAP 9.3P4
  • In earlier Ontap versions it is not possible to rename a volume, which impacts the creation of directories via Windows Explorer
