Poor NDMP backup performance when preferred interface is on e0M

Issue

  • NDMP control or data connections are using the e0M management port
  • In most cases this results in poor NDMP backup performance
  • In rare cases, using e0M for data operations (including NDMP) can result in an environment shutdown as described in Bug 1286273
  • EMS.log Message:

Fri Nov 19 16:00:24 +0000 [netapp-1_1: ndmpdc: ndmp.ctrl.on.e0m:alert]: NDMP control connection is established on "172.19.76.117" which is hosted on port "e0M". This is a low bandwidth port and might impact performance.
