If I change the tape library, is there a compatibility concern on the ONTAP side?

Answer

  • The Data Management Application (DMA) (backup application)is the host that controls the tape library, even when the tape library is connected to a NetApp host.
  • For tapes supported to be connected directly via SAS of FC to ONTAP cluster check the Tape Device Configuration File Overview Page which guides which TCF files are available for which ONTAP version.
  • For tapes connected to a Media agent outside of the ONTAP Cluster, consult the DMA  Vendor Support.
