VAAI: Cloning fails at around 90% when cloning across flexgroups

Issue

  • When cloning across two flexgroup-backed datastores using VAAI, the clone progresses to around 90% completion, then fails with the following error:

Could not complete network copy for file

  • Clones within the two individual flexgroup-backed datastores offload successfully
  • If the data LIF associated with the destination datastore is moved to the partner node, the clone completes successfully
  • The customer may also report low cache hit rate when cloning VMs on the same flexgroup-backed datastore
