File lock and disk consolidation failures after VAAI install

Issue

  • After installing VAAI, vSphere starts flagging VMs for consolidation
  • When you try to run a consolidation, the attempt fails.
  • In the vmware.log files:

Virtual machine disks consolidation is needed.

  • Additional operations, like cloning the flagged VMs, may fail as well
