Why does System Manager report the cluster as healthy despite X condition

Answer

System Manager makes two calls related to Cluster health when loading the Dashboard.

  • It checks the health alerts(the cli equivalent is system health alert show)

  • It checks for emergency-severity EMS events.

     

System Manager

  • Checks only look at the last 24 hours.
    • During this 24-hour period it will report the events.
  • After 24 hours the status will return to healthy unless there are new health alerts or emergency-severity EMS events. The hardware dashboard will continue to show the hardware issue until the status has been cleared. It is designed this way under the assumption that emergency events will be resolved within 24 hours.
