Why does ONTAP System Manager always show default snapshot name as different than cluster time
Applies to
- ONTAP System Manager (OSM)
- Snapshot creation
Answer
- By design OSM default snapshot name contains UTC timestamp irrespective of cluster timezone
- Example: snap.YYYY-MM-DD_HHMMSS

- Example: snap.YYYY-MM-DD_HHMMSS
- For clusters in UTC+1 (UK) time zone, the name will always be one hour behind
- for eg: a snapshot created on August 2 at 08:30 UK time, will be named as '
snap.2024-08-02_073004' by default - For other time zones ,the difference will be hours calculated between local time zone and UTC time
