ONTAP System Manager (OSM)

Answer

  • Storage admin would need to know which individual WWPN belongs to which host.
  • Depending on the SAN environment, there could be hundreds of initiators in that list.
  • Each host advertises its name and OS to the fabric name server.
  • ONTAP should query this information, so that it can be used for simpler host management.

Workaround:

Add alias on CLI for each individual WWPN and pre-create the igroup(s).
