Administration/provisioning:

  • It is useful to see the port selected for a LIF is actually active (up/up).
  • The LIF is created on a down port and cannot be used, causing difficulty in troubleshooting and rectifying the issue.

Note: This situation can be prevented if there is information that distinguishes between active and inactive ports in SM.
