  • When a custome user role is added in ONTAP, it is registered with the vserver service web access  -name rest interface. (9.11.1 or later)
  • The vserver service web access -name rest acts as the gateway for REST API access, allowing users to interact with ONTAP resources through various API commands.
  • If there is a need to limit which API commands a user can execute, ONTAP allows administrators to define rest-role
