Why is there a difference between the Total Used in storage aggregate show-space and the total volume size in volume show

Answer

  • The Total Used in storage aggregate show-space is not the total volume size shown in volume show.
  • It is the total size includes the following factors, which also means difference in available space on volume and aggregate:
    • All Volume Footprints contained in the respective aggregate.
    • Delayed Frees contained in the respective aggregate.
    • Space accounted by unreleased PVBN.

Note: Assuming that we don't have to account for Snapshots and Storage Efficiency features to reduce the complexity.
