Applies to

  • ONTAP 9.15.1P12 (clustered Data ONTAP)
  • Storage Virtual Machine (SVM)
  • Quality of Service (QoS)
  • OpenStack Manila (Caracal release)

Issue

  • ONTAP is used as the storage backend for a private cloud based on OpenStack
  • Multiple OpenStack environments exist with separate security or tenant requirements
  • Each OpenStack environment maps to a dedicated SVM
  • Volumes (FlexVol) are provisioned by the OpenStack Manila driver
  • QoS is configured per Manila share (volume)
  • QoS configuration fails when using SVM administrator credentials
  • QoS commands are not available in the SVM (vserver) CLI context
  • SVM administrators cannot manage QoS for volumes owned by the same SVM
