Answer

  • NSE does not use SSL certificates, however, while configuring the external key manager (EKM) SSL certificates will need to be installed as explained in this document: Install SSL certificates on the ONTAP cluster
  • Disk encryption focuses on securing stored data, while SSL/TLS certificates secure data being transmitted over networks.
