ONTAP FC port does not display switch name and port

Issue

  • When performing switch/Fabric enquiry, no switch information is displayed with network fcp adapter show -fields switch-port
  • Physical connection is up and healthy, FC traffic is not impacted
  • Get Interconnect Element List (GIEL) Server does not support this command  - Get Port List (GPL) (  6.2.5.11 page 155 )
  • Query - Get Interconnect Element Logical Name (GIELN) Server does not support this command  (  6.2.5.11 page 153 )

Examples:

  • EMS:

The Fibre Channel fabric management server request (GPL) sent from adapter 3c failed with reason code 0xb (Server does not support this command), explanation code 0xf0 (Unmapped error), and response code 0x8001
The Fibre Channel fabric management server request (GIELN) sent from adapter 2a failed with reason code 0xb (Server does not support this command), explanation code 0xf0 (Unmapped error), and response code 0x8001
