Applies to

  • Brocade G620 switch 8.2.x
  • HPE blade SAN switch 7.4.2h

Issue

  • Unable to configure ISL between brocade and HPE switch.
  • Both the switches are compatible for ISL and HPE switch is in the latest version.
  • ISL ports are showing zone conflict error as below.

Index Port Address  Media Speed   State       Proto
==================================================
  28  28   01xxxx   id    N8      Online      FC  E-Port  segmented,10:00:50:eb:1a:84:25:58 (zone conflict)
  29  29   01xxxx   id    N8      Online      FC  E-Port  segmented,10:00:50:eb:1a:84:25:58 (zone conflict)

  • Followed KB where it says that special characters should not be used in zone configuration.
  • Even after removing the special characters from zone configuration ISL ports are still disabled with same error.
  • defzone meaning default zone between 2 switches is different, run command defzone --show.

On HPE switch
defzone --show       :
Default Zone Access Mode
        committed - No Access
        transaction - No Transaction

On Brocade switch
defzone --show:
Default Zone Access Mode
        committed - All Access
        transaction - No Transaction
