Applies to

  • Cluster Network Switch model BES-53248
  • Broadcom Ethernet Fabric OS (EFOS) version 3.9.0.2, 3.11.1.2
  • Reference Configuration File (RCF) v1.9
  • MetroCluster IP RCF v2.11
  • 100GbE port(s)

Issue

  • One licensed network cluster port (49 to 54) at 100GbE is flapping on the switch side.
    Example:
Switch-1 TRAPMGR[trapTask]: traputil.c(753) 4810741 %% NOTE SFP removed from 0/49
Switch-1 DOT1S[dot1s_task]: dot1s_control.c(3088) 4810740 %% INFO Stopping SM on 49
Switch-1 TRAPMGR[trapTask]: traputil.c(753) 4810739 %% NOTE Link Down: 0/49, Reason Code: 0x40
Switch-1 TRAPMGR[trapTask]: traputil.c(753) 4810735 %% NOTE Link Up: 0/49
Switch-1 TRAPMGR[trapTask]: traputil.c(753) 4810732 %% NOTE Link Down: 0/49, Reason Code: 0x40
Switch-1 DOT1S[dot1s_task]: dot1s_control.c(3088) 4810731 %% INFO Stopping SM on 49
Switch-1 TRAPMGR[trapTask]: traputil.c(753) 4810727 %% NOTE Link Up: 0/49
Switch-1 DOT1S[dot1s_task]: dot1s_control.c(3088) 4810724 %% INFO Stopping SM on 49
  • Consequent ONTAP events messages reported for the node ports connected to that switch port:
[Node01: intr: netif.linkDown:info]: Ethernet xxx: Link down, check cable.
[Node01: vifmgr: vifmgr.portdown:debug]: A link down event was received on node Node01, port xxx.
[Node01: vifmgr: vifmgr.clus.linkdown:debug]: The cluster port xxx on node Node01 has gone down unexpectedly.
[Node01: intr: netif.linkUp:info]: Ethernet xxx: Link up.
[Node01: vifmgr: vifmgr.portup:debug]: A link up event was received on node Node01, port xxx.
  • Interface 0/49 set to auto negotiate:
(Switch-01)#show port 0/49
Admin     Physical   Physical   Link   Link    LACP   Actor
Intf      Type   Mode      Mode       Status     Status Trap    Mode   Timeout
--------- ------ --------- ---------- ---------- ------ ------- ------ --------
0/49             Enable    Auto       100G Full  Up     Enable  Enable long
  • The issue remains after the cable and SFPs swap/replacement.
