Event Summary

E-Series controller iSCSI I/O host interface card (HIC) failed. The interface is not available and link to HIC ports cannot be established.

Validate

  1. Open SANtricity System Manager and review the list of recovery guru failure entries under the home page. 
  2. In SANtricity System Manager, the HIC (Host Interface Board) status can be checked under the Hardware section or under Storage Array Profile in Support "Support Resources" section.

  1. The system event log under Support > Events reports a critical "Failed I/O host card; iSCSI interface error detected" event.

Resolution

  • The controller HIC must be replaced.
  • The solution might require a part replacement. Please contact NetApp Technical Support or log into the NetApp Support Site to create a case. Reference this article for further assistance.
