E-Series E4000 controller stuck in a boot loop failing to configure eth interfaces

Issue

  • E4000 controller is stuck in a boot loop attempting to come online. The controller console reports below messages:
[    2.841036] ice 0000:f4:00.2: PTP init failed, error: -6 (-ENXIO)
[    3.557722] ice 0000:f4:00.2 eth3: All configured link modes were attempted but failed to establish link. The device will restart the process to establish link.
[    3.572073] ice 0000:f4:00.2 eth3: Possible Solution: Check link partner connection and configuration.
[    3.581378] ice 0000:f4:00.2 eth3: Port Number: 1.
  • The "f4:00" PCI address represents the onboard iSCSI Fibre ports.
