E-Series BMC reports false alerts on EF600 EF300 with SANtricity OS 11.80.1 or later

  • EF300
  • EF600
  • SANtricity OS version is between 11.80.1 or later (BMC firmware is 14.13 or later)

Issue

  • MAJOR-EVENT-LOG indicates BMC is unresponsive

2868 The controller's BMC was unresponsive and the recovery process successfully recovered the BMC - Shelf 99, Bay A
2867 The controller's BMC is unresponsive - Shelf 99, Bay A

Example of false events/alerts:

  • Maximum temperature exceeded
  • Controller shelf component failed

 

  • E-Series support bundle and AutoSupport (DOM0-BMC-LOGS-%.7Z) include the following BMC event (sp_system_event_log.txt and sp_runtime.txt) indicating a wathcdog timeout reset was triggered:
