ONTAP SAN ASA VMware reports no space for Virtual Disk but with free space available

Issue

  • VMware Datastore inaccessible during migrations and after a change in the backup configuration 
  • VMware virtual machine fails to start with  "no more space for virtual disk"
  • Storage may report aggregate out of space
  • No thick or eager zeroed virtual disk / VMDK
