- Level 0 / headswap parts
Answer
A HeadSwap is initiated when a Level 0 hardware component as mentioned below is replaced and a new serial number is assigned.
- Controller motherboard replacements
- Controller chassis replacements
- Complete system replacements
The process typically begins as follows:
- A customer reports a hardware issue, and a Technical Support case is opened.
- A Technical Support Engineer (TSE) investigates and confirms that the hardware has failed.
- If replacement is required, NetApp ships a replacement Level 0 component under a Part Request case.
- After the replacement hardware is delivered and installed, the replacement system receives a new serial number.
