SCV does not allow some resources to be part of a Resource Group

Issue

SCV backups of other vm's or DS hosted on volumes of same SVM work.
SCV backups of some datastores (DS) or of VM's in that DS fail.
The following error message is seen in the backup log or while editing/creating the Resource Group (RG):

Following entities could not be added to resource group: datastore1, datastore2
These are possible reasons for this error:
1) All the Datastores and VMDK files used by VM
are not on supported storage.
2) All NetApp Storage Virtual Machines (SVMs) related to Datastore or VM are not registered within
