After upgrade of SnapCenter to 4.1.1P3 or higher, the Oracle Plug-in may fail at discovering Oracle databases

  • SnapCenter Plug-in for Oracle 4.1.1P3, 4.1.1P4, 4.2, 4.6 (SCO)
  • Linux Host with Oracle 11r, 12c, 18c, 19c

Issue

After upgrading the SnapCenter Plug-in for Oracle to 4.1.1P3, 4.1.1P4, or 4.2, one of the following errors can occur, preventing the databases from being discovered again:

  1. Discovery failed for object ORCRL with error PL-SCO-20006: Discovery of database files failed for database ORCL on host rhel.demo.netapp.com with error
    PLAT-00040: Unable to determine permissions for file /oracle/12.1.0/grid/bin/dbhome. Error: No such file or directory..
  2. c.n.o.c.p.UnixOraclePlatform - Database instances discovered from oratab: [oracleHome: /ora01/app/oracle12c/product/12c/db_1, identifier: techdb3, startOnBoot: false]
    c.n.o.c.p.UnixOraclePlatform - Updating database details cache with key techdb3 and value /ora01/app/oracle12c/product/12c01/db_1
    c.n.o.c.j.SQLExceptionSofteningAdapter - caught SQLException ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
    ERROR  c.n.o.c.s.d.m.DatabaseMetadataService - An exception thrown during the execution of method findDatabaseVersion and the exception message is
    ORACLE-10002: Error received from connection to Oracle database ORASID: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
    Linux-x86_64 Error: 2: No such file or directory
  3. ORACLE-10002: Error received from connection to Oracle database ORACL: ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact.
