  1. Upgrade to OCI 7.3.12:
    • Follow the table for upgrade path.
    • Run the Elasticsearch migration tool as per the table above
      • For 7.3.5-7.3.11 customer, run the migration tool first and then upgrade to 7.3.12
      • There is one hop if we need to upgrade existing customers who are on  (7.3.0-7.3.4) first to (7.3.5-7.3.11) then run the migration tool and then upgrade to 7.3.12.
    • Run the OCI 7.3.12 upgrade
  2. Watch this video (mp4 icon here) on how to run migration tool in Windows and Linux OCI servers
  3. Migration tool is available with the OCI 7.3.12 and above installer on NetApp Download site

Why:

  •  Elasticsearch (ES) version after the upgrade will be ES v7
  • Reason for running the migration tool, ES only upgrade to n-1
  • There could be ES indices that are still on v5
  • So need to run the ES migration tool first before OCI 7.3.12 or above upgrade to identify and remove older indices
