StorageGRID reports Appliance LACP port missing due to switch misconfiguration

  • StorageGRID WebScale 11.2 and later versions

Issue

  • Network speed for the Bond is not showing the full total of the HIC ports
  • HIC ports are all online and showing healthy from GRID UI
  • Current Alert shows Appliance LACP port missing

  • HIC Actor Churn State is currently set to churned:

# cat /proc/net/bonding/bond0
...
Slave Interface: hic4
MII Status: up
Speed: 10000 Mbps
Duplex: full
...
Actor Churn State: churned
 ...

  • We can also check syslog/kern.log in the BaseOS or StorageGRID log bundle if the port is churned to see why it went to that state.

  • The following output can be found in a StorageGRID, lumberjack, log from the node. 

    • cat /proc/net/bonding/bond0
    • ethtool -S <hicx>
    • ethtool -m <hicx>
    • ip -br link show
