Answer

The SSD cache feature is enabled only on StorageGRID-obj-00 within StorageGRID Appliance to improve the read performance of Cassandra database stored within this volume. 

StorageGRID maintains object metadata in the Cassandra database. SSD cache improves significantly the performance of read queries into the database resulting in overall improvement in the S3 client performance.
