Answer

When data is deleted and overwritten, Cassandra temporarily contains obsolete data which the system should automatically clean up when there are enough CPU and memory resources available.
 
In the case this does not happen, investigate the issue by following the guide: StorageGRID meta-data not decreasing after deleting large amounts of data

Additional Information

If metadata usage is low, automatic compaction will not be triggered and the reclaimable space will not decrease.
