StorageGRID reports Appliance Fibre Channel HBA port Failure

Applies to

  • NetApp StorageGRID
  • Appliance Models: SG6060 and SGF6024
  • StorageGRID Software 11.4.0.3 and above

Issue

  • StorageGRID Grid manager reports one or more of the following alerts:
    • Appliance Fibre Channel HBA port Failure
    • Storage connectivity degraded
    • A Fibre Channel HBA port is failing or has failed
    • Appliance storage controller hardware issue (<site> / <nodename>) SANtricity software is reporting "Needs attention" for a component in a StorageGRID appliance.
  • The transmit Bias current is 9.25 or above on one or more HBA ports on the SG6000 compute node.
  • The following prometheus query (Support > Metrics) can identify the affected port(s): 

(storagegrid_private_appliance_fc_hba_statistics{statistic="TxBiasCurrentMa"}) >= 9.25
