Applies to

  • NetApp StorageGRID
  • Erasure Coded (EC) rebalance procedure

Issue

  • In StorageGRID UI > Nodes, some storage nodes are reporting higher Object Storage Used while other nodes have significantly lower usage at the same site, using the same appliance type.
    • Example: 16 node site using all SG6060s appliances:
    • Storage nodes 1 - 6 reports ~36% used with 22TB drives
    • Storage nodes 7 - 8 reports ~90% used with 12TB drives
    • Storage nodes 9 - 16 reports ~70% used with 18TB drives
  • A manual EC rebalance is succeeding with no moves completed:

root@admin_node:~# rebalance-data start --site "site_name"
ECS site rebalance started successfully with job ID 123456789.
root@admin_node:~# rebalance-data status --job-id 123456789
