How much space do delete markers consume in StorageGRID?
Applies to
StorageGRID
Answer
Delete markers are zero-byte objects, however, due to how they are tracked, delete markers consume about 1/3 of a byte per delete marker.
Additionally, as they are stored in Cassandra, they also increase the table size.
Although delete markers consume a smaller amount of space than a regular object, they will still consume metadata and count proportionally toward maximum support objects per node.
Additional Information
Delete markers persist in an object versioning enabled bucket on StorageGRID
