StorageGRID repair or decommission task appears stalled at 99%

  • Decommission and Repair procedures.

Issue

  • StorageGRID repair and decommission tasks may appear stuck without any progress at 99%. The decommission task would be at the Decommission Erasure Coded (EC) Data stage.
  • During online storage node(s) decommission operation, the bycast.log in /var/local/log or application log collection indicate the decommission is trying to truncate a replicated object.

  • During online site decommission operation, the bycast.log in /var/local/log or application log collection indicate the decommission is trying to truncate a replicated object or chunk file. A chunk file is a part (data or parity) or an erasure coded object.

  • During volume or node repair operation, the bycast.log in /var/local/log or application log collection indicate the ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) engine is attempting to repair the same object multiple times. This happens repeatedly during each scan cycle and only for replicated repairs.
