Primary admin node not up after upgrading from StorageGRID 11.6.0.10 to 11.7.0.3

Applies to

  • Bare metal StorageGRID deployment
  • Primary admin node on Ubuntu Bare metal
  • Upgrade to 11.7.0.3 done using combined hotfix upgrade procedure

Issue

After initiating the upgrade from StorageGRID GUI > Maintenance > System > Software upgrade > StorageGRID upgrade, the primary admin node reboots as part of the upgrade and never reports back as online.
 
/var/local/log/upgrade.log on the BareMetal OS shows:
 
[2023-08-14T09:12:52.569424]   ERROR -- xxxxxxxxADM01: Host sysctl option fs.protected_regular = 2
[2023-08-14T09:12:52.569436]   ERROR -- xxxxxxxxADM01: Unsupported host sysctl option fs.protected_regular value 2 expected 0
[2023-08-14T09:12:52.569452]   ERROR -- Invalid configuration, cannot continue
[2023-08-14T09:12:52.569462]   ERROR -- Terminating node service

docker ps command shows no containers

root@SG:~ # docker ps
