StorageGRID REST API Authentication Failure for Federated (LDAP/AD) Users

Issue

Attempts to authenticate federated (LDAP/AD) users from BMC discovery to StorageGRID via the REST API fail, while basic authentication (local user) works as expected.

Observed error (from logs/BMC Discovery):

AccessFailed: Unexpected error: NetApp StorageGRID 10.73.32.21: Authentication failed with status 401

  • Basic authentication tests succeed (connectivity confirmed), but federated user authentication fails with HTTP 401.
  • The affected user is unable to log in to the StorageGRID Grid Manager or use the REST API.
  • The same credentials work with basic authentication but not with identity-federated (LDAP/AD) authentication.
