StorageGRID node in unknown state after recovering from an unexpected reboot

  • Virtual StorageGRID storage node
  • VMware based deployment
  • Backend datastores provided by ONTAP
  • StorageGRID 11.6.0.10

Issue

  • Due to latency issues observed on the VMware level datastores, the storagegrid node reboots. However, post reboot, the node status remains unknown on the StorageGRID Manager.
  • storagegrid-status command on the node shows all the services are in running state.
  • Affected node is able to ping the primary admin node and other storage nodes.
  • Attempting to restart all the services via service servermanager restart stucks with warning : KILL required to stop servermanager service
