StorageGRID appliance node reports high CPU utilization on all the nodes

  • Investigate the following:
  1. Access node in question via SSH and run top to gather resource utilization (lumberjack collects output of top -b -n 1)
  2. Verify if a process is utilizing excessive resources:

PID USER      PR  NI    VIRT    RES    SHR S  %CPU  %MEM     TIME+ COMMAND
25086 dds-user  20   0   84.5g  25.2g   9768 S 100.0  40.6  53947:32 dds
15197 cassand+  20   0   80.7g  24.7g  27452 S  37.5  39.7 725:54.86 java
25472 ssm-user  20   0 1709308 192064   7424 S   6.2   0.3   2242:24 ssm
    1 root      20   0   10716   2344   1432 S   0.0   0.0   5:48.81 initSG.sh

  • In this example, the DDS service is utilizing significantly higher resources than other resources in the StorageGRID environment
