After storageGRID expansion new nodes have high space utilization and Disk I/O is very slow alert

Issue

  • Critical alert on one storageGRID node newly added:

Disk I/O is very slow 
Very slow disk I/O might be impacting StorageGRID performance.

  • The affected new node is having high space utilization compared to old nodes in GRID triggering Insufficient Storage alert intermittently.
  • Under Support > Diagnostics we find the affected node has high CPU Usage with IO Wait,  Write latency,  Read Latency.
  • We verified backend E-Series node.
  • We isolated hardware issue by placing LDR service of the affected node to Read-only.
    • The above alerts shifted to second newly added node.
