What method can be used to restore data from an SCV backup while the original VM remains online?

Answer

The following method allows the original VM to remain online and run without affecting its operation. 

Additional Information

  • If restoring the VM to original location, the VMs will be unregistered/re-registered so cannot be run online.
  • If restoring the VM to different location, the original VM can run online, however, if the IP assignment is not changed before the restored VM is brought online,  duped IP happens and it may affect the behavior of the original VM.
