Upgrade to SCSQL 6.x fails with PowerShell or .NET error

Issue

  • Host upgrade from 5.x to 6.0 or 6.0.1 fails with an error in the <installation_path>\NetApp\SnapCenter\App_Data\log\SnapManagerWeb_<id>.log:

ERROR SnapManagerWeb_746190 PID=[12040] TID=[110] The required PowerShell version 7.4.2 is not available on <Host_FQDN> Install or upgrade the PowerShell to 7.4.2 and restart the host.

  • May also see the following error in the SnapCenter_Windows_host_Plug-in_install_<job_id>.log:

SWInstallerHelper.CheckForRollbackLogs: SETUP_ERROR: Failed Plugin: SnapCenter Plug-in for Microsoft SQL Server
SWInstallerHelper.CheckForRollbackLogs: SETUP_ERROR: MSI Error code: 1603
SWInstallerHelper.CheckForRollbackLogs: SETUP_ERROR: ErrorMessage:

  • SC RunAs account used to execute the upgrade is part of the local admins group on the host(s).
