Upgrade of SnapCenter Plug-in for Exchange fails with "The process cannot access the file" error

Issue

  • After successfully upgrading SnapCenter, the upgrade of the SCW / SCE plug-ins using the SnapCenter GUI fails with the following error seen in the Event Viewer logs on the Exchange host:

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

  • If the old plug-ins are manually uninstalled, and the new plug-ins are pushed from the SnapCenter GUI, or installed silently on the Exchange host, the installation completes successfully, however the plug-in services fail to start with the same error seen in the Event Viewer logs:
