Applies to

  • NetApp SnapCenter Server 6.0.1 (and likely other versions)
  • SnapCenter environments with Windows hosts (e.g., Windows Server 2022)
  • SnapCenter Plug-in for Microsoft SQL Server

Issue

When attempting to delete old SnapCenter credentials (e.g., after password rotation or decommissioning hosts), the following error appears:

Unable to delete because Credential is in use.
  • The credential no longer appears to be assigned to any host or resource in the GUI.
  • The credential was previously mapped to decommissioned hosts and/or SQL Server resources.
  • Standard KB articles for credential cleanup and resource group reassignment do not resolve the issue.
  • Log/DB review shows orphaned entries referencing the old credential ID in the SnapCenter NSM MySQL database.
