SnapCenter backup finishes with Error 'Snapshot copy xxxxx not found on the SnapMirror destination'

Issue

SnapCenter backup job finishes with warning, with either of these two errors in the Job Details:

  • for the snapshot on the source/primary storage:
    Unable to find Snapshot (<BACKUP_SNAPSHOT_NAME>) on volume (<VOLUME_NAME>) from storage (<STORAGE_CONNECTION>)
    SetSnapshotLabel failed : 102, Failed to attach the label to the specified Snapshot copy.(<BACKUP_SNAPSHOT_NAME>)
    Invalid response returned by Set-NcSnapshot: 0
  • for the snapshot on the destination (some time after triggering the snapmirror udpate):

Error: SnapMirror update failed for the relationship [ <source SVM> : <source volume> ==> <destination SVM> : <destination volume>] with error: Snapshot copy '<snapshot name>' not found on the SnapMirror destination <destination SVM> : <destination volume>

  • SMCore_<JOB_ID>.log shows the following messages for the relationship.

DEBUG SMCore_<JOB_ID> PID=[5040] TID=[417] Checking for snapshot '<snapshot name>' on the volume(s) <destination volume> of the storage system '<destination SVM>'.
DEBUG SMCore_<JOB_ID> PID=[5040] TID=[417] Retry to check the snapshot on secondary destinations.
DEBUG SMCore_<JOB_ID> PID=[5040] TID=[417] Checking for snapshot '<snapshot name>' on the volume(s) <destination volume> of the storage system '<destination SVM>'.
DEBUG SMCore_<JOB_ID> PID=[5040] TID=[417] Retry to check the snapshot on secondary destinations.
