Issue

  • Snapshot retention policy resulting in more snapshots than expected, it is expected retention of 5, but observed 6 snapshots remains on the volume.
  • SCV retention failed: Exception:This Snapshot copy is currently used as a reference Snapshot copy by one or more SnapMirror relationships.
  1. Backup retention start to run:
    - [DBG] Command starts: Remove-NcSnapshot -Volume <volume> -Snapshot <snapshot>
  2. Then it failed as the snapshot was busy (working as a reference for SnapMirror):
    - [ERR] Failed to remove the snapshot <snapshot> on volume <volume>., Exception:This Snapshot copy is currently used as a reference Snapshot copy by one or more SnapMirror relationships. Deleting the Snapshot copy can cause future SnapMirror operations to fail.
    - Error: Remove Snapshot '<snapshot>' failed on volume '<volume>'.
  3. SCV marks the resources as deleted:
    - [INF] Marked resources in backup (<snapshot>) as deleted
  4. The snapshot remains in volume level and can be deleted by force commmand only.
