SCV restore job in the vCenter is getting stuck at 80 percent when restoring a VM named with multibyte characters

Issue

  • Restore from SCV fails with the following error:

Exception while calling restore on SCV: Restore failed with exception: Single File Snapshot Restore Failed:
 Failed to restore missing directory /.snapshot/<Snapshot>/<VMware named with multybyte characters>. 
Storage level clone operation failed. Error: Error: Clone operation failed on directory 
/.snapshot/<Snapshot>/<VMware named with multybyte characters>. entry doesn't exist. 

  • SCV restore job in the vCenter is getting stuck at 80 percent.
  • Restore failure occurs only when VM includes mutibyte characters
