SCV restore job in the vCenter is getting stuck at 80 percent

Issue

SCV fails to restore a Virtual Machine (VM), the restore is stuck at 80%:
  • In affected vmcontrol job log:

<SmRestoreFileResponse> ...
    <Result>
        <_message>Single File Snapshot Restore Failed:  Failed to restore missing directory /.snapshot/<snapshot_name>/vm1.         Storage level clone operation failed. Error: Error: Clone operation failed on directory         /.snapshot/<snapshot_name>/vm1.

  • In the wfe  job log:

Connecting to scv url: https://localhost:8144/scbr/smcoreplugin/restore
 Exception while calling restore on SCV: Restore failed with exception: Single File Snapshot Restore Failed:  Failed to restore missing directory /.snapshot/<snapshot_name>/vm1.
 Storage level clone operation failed. Error: Error: Clone operation failed on directory /.snapshot/<snapshot_name>/vm1.
