SCV backups or retention fails because ONTAPI has been proactively suspended

Issue

  • SCV backup fails to take Snapshot wiht the following error:

Error: Snapshot operation failed. ONTAPI has been proactively suspended on this cluster due to inactivity as this feature is deprecated. Use the "system services web ontapi modify" CLI command to un-suspend ONTAPI.

  • Job-<JobID>.log indicates the Get-NcSnapshot command fails with the following error, with a number of retries being attempted:

[DBG] ex.Message : ONTAPI has been proactively suspended on this cluster due to inactivity as this feature is deprecated. Use the "system services web ontapi modify" CLI command to un-suspend ONTAPI.
[ERR] Failed to run a command Get-NcSnapshot
[ERR] API exception: NetApp.Ontapi.NaUnknownErrnoException: ONTAPI has been proactively suspended on this cluster due to inactivity as this feature is deprecated. Use the "system services web ontapi modify" CLI command to un-suspend ONTAPI.
   at NetApp.DataProtection.Storage.CommandAPI.GetNcSnapshot.ProcessRecord(NcController controller)

[ERR] The result from get-ncsnapshot is null/empty

[ERR] Error: Snapshot enumeration failed, Exception:Failed to run a command Get-NcSnapshot
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

  • The following generic error may also be seen:

[ERR] Error: The credentials for the storage system <Storage_Name> is not configured. Resolution: Please check if storage system <Storage_Name> is resolvable or add an entry to etc/hosts file.
